Future Business Magnates 2019 – Awards Evening video
Congratulations to the team from St Leonard’s Catholic School who were last night named as the 14th winners of Future Business Magnates (FBM).
The competition is run by Business Durham and requires Year 8 students to create a product and then learn – through various challenges – how to market, finance and pitch their idea.
The competition is open to all secondary schools in County Durham. Each team consists of eight students, supported by a teacher and a business partner. At the start of the competition in November Business Durham provides the teams with a theme to inspire their ideas. This year it was Made in Durham, Sold to the World.
St Leonard’s has taken part in all of the FBM competitions and this is the first time it has won. Its students’ product was jewellery made from Durham Cathedral stone. The BBC’s Charlie Charlton hosted last night’s event at the Xcel Centre in Newton Aycliffe.
