Videos – the story of the UK’s munitions factories
Although the UK is now seen as a nation divided along many different lines, at this time of year Remainers and Leavers, Tories and Socialists join together to remember with sadness and gratitude members of the armed forces who were killed fighting for this country.
The world wars of the last century required an unprecedented mobilisation of men, women and machinery. As conflict became inevitable, factories had to be built in a hurry to provide this equipment.
One of our most interesting jobs of recent years has been telling the stories of the munitions factories which fed the UK’s war machine. These films also remain the most-watched items on our YouTube channel.
