No chance for North East Broadcasting Corporation, but we deserve better
Professor Bonnett’s call for a North East Broadcasting Corporation (http://bitly.com/1HKXEIM) has even less chance of succeeding than the arrival of an elected mayor for the region, government talks or no government talks.
After all wasn’t the idea of Local TV – partly funded by licence payers – to reflect the life of communities which had a connection (Tyne and Wear) rather than the artificial BBC regions which were only created because of the limitations of pre-digital transmission?
The North East deserves a better broadcasting service not least so Look North can stop kidding itself that viewers here really care what happens in West Cumbria or North Yorkshire.
